Kingston beats Cobourg 8-2 as Brady gets hat trick

Adam Brady netted a hat trick to lead the Kingston Voyageurs over the Cobourg Cougars, 8-2.

Brady notched his first tally 16:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:50 into the second and at 9:41 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:36 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Kingston racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game the Voyageurs had been spending in the box. Kingston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Voyageurs bested their season scoring average. This season, Kingston averages 4.3 goals per contest.

Kingston also got points from Alex Tonge, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Alex Stothart, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Rory McGuire, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Zachary Emelifeonwu also scored for Kingston. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Cole Bolton, Reid Russell, and Spencer Green, who each chipped in one and Blake ONeill, Ryan Watson, and Matt Hoover, who contributed two each.

Cobourg's offense rang up 40 shots on the Voyageurs' net.

The Cougars were helped by Taylor Gauld, who finished with one goal. Gauld scored 37 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Connor Armour provided the assist. Cobourg also got a goal from Jacob Friend as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Mitchell Gibson, Dawson Theede, and Cole Langan, who each chipped in one.

Matt Penta recorded 38 saves for Kingston. The Voyageurs registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For Kingston, Michael Crocock and Bolton were ejected from the contest. Cobourg's Tyler Lewis stopped 21 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Cougars ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors. Team's Liam Grande, Jake Baird, and Armour were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
