Georgetown boosted by LaFontaine's play in net, beats North York 3-1

Jack LaFontaine stood on his head and made 39 saves to lead the Georgetown Raiders to a 3-1 victory over the North York Rangers.

North York's power play was ineffective against Georgetown's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Raiders were sparked by Carmine Alberga, who finished with one goal. Alberga scored 11:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Josh Dickinson provided the assist.

Georgetown's offense rang up 41 shots on the Rangers' net. The Raiders could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Georgetown additionally got points from Scott Emerson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Francois Cote also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Wyatt Hicken, who had one.

North York did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Rangers put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. North York's offense rang up 40 shots on Georgetown's net.

The Rangers were led by Gabriel Valenzuela, who scored the team's only goal. Valenzuela scored on the power play 16:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 North York. North York had gotten the advantage when the Raiders' Cote was sent off for high sticking. Matthew Whittaker picked up the assist.

Georgetown registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Team's Gavin Shantz and Richard Court were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Rangers' Gianluca Baggetta stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. North York incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
