Mississauga stifles Buffalo's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Mississauga Chargers came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, but did just enough to escape with a 6-4 victory.

Mississauga led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Chargers' Stefano Alonzi scored on the power play at 17:50 in the first period to put Mississauga up 4-0.

Thomas Lattavo had two goals and two assists to lead the Chargers. Lattavo scored the first of his two goals at 10:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mississauga. Domenic Commisso provided the assist. Lattavo's next tally made the score 6-4 Mississauga with 4:13 left in the third period. James Sterne picked up the assist.

Mississauga's penalty kill excelled, as the Chargers gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Mississauga stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Chargers' offense rang up 39 shots on the Jr. Sabres' net. Mississauga surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Chargers average 3.5 goals per contest.

Mississauga additionally got points from Marco Mattina, who also registered one goal and one assist, Joseph Molinaro, who also had one goal and one assist, and Jordan Addesi, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Vince Figliomeni, who had two.

Buffalo struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for 12 opposing power plays.

The Jr. Sabres were helped by Tim Kielich, who racked up two goals and one assist. Kielich scored the first of his two goals at 4:36 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Mississauga. Kenny Tencza assisted on the tally. Kielich's next tally made the score 5-3 Mississauga with 7:42 left in the third period. Buffalo found itself down a man on Ryan Kuhn's interference. Tencza picked up the assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included Aaron Reinig and Ben Casale, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Christopher Berger and Zach Evancho, who contributed one each.

Mississauga's Alex Lepore stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Chargers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Alex Connal rejected 33 shots on goal for the Jr. Sabres.
