Huge game by Girduckis boosts Wellington over Orangeville, 6-2

The Wellington Dukes' Abbott Girduckis had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-2 win over the Orangeville Flyers.

Girduckis found the back of the net on the power play 11:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wellington and again while on the power play 16:21 into the second to make the score 3-1 Wellington.

Wellington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Orangeville power plays. The Dukes' offense rang up 49 shots on Orangeville's net. Wellington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Dukes have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Wellington additionally got points from Marco Azzano, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Joe McKeown, who also had one goal and one assist, and Nick Devito, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jacob Panetta also scored for Wellington. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Will Cook, who had two and Luc Brown and Justin Bean, who contributed one each.

The Flyers struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Wellington to score three power play goals on five chances.

Orangeville was helped by Ian Nichols, who tallied one goal and one assist. Nichols scored 19:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orangeville. Connor Stack picked up the assist. Orangeville also got points from Lucas Smilsky, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

Taylor Welsh rejected 28 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Wyatt Pickrell recorded 43 saves for the Flyers. Orangeville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
