Penta leads Kingston to shutout victory over Stouffville

Matt Penta made 37 saves to complete the shutout and led the Kingston Voyageurs to a 5-0 win against the Stouffville Spirit.

Kingston got the win behind a great game by Adam Brady, who had two goals and one assist. Brady scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:00 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kingston. The Voyageurs earned a power play opportunity when Tyson Bruce was put in the box for tripping. Michael Crocock picked up the assist. Brady's next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Kingston with 10:09 left in the third period. Kingston had gained a power play chance when Matthew Heffernan was whistled for roughing. Rory McGuire assisted on the tally.

The Voyageurs stifled Stouffville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kingston's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Spirit. The Voyageurs gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. Kingston's offense rang up 35 shots on Stouffville's net.

Kingston also had goals scored by Alex Stothart, Matt Hoover, and Spencer Green, who each put in one. More assists for Kingston came via Alex Tonge, who had two and Blake ONeill, Joey Beaudoin, Adam Moodie, and Cole Bolton, who each chipped in one.

The Spirit were held below their usual level of production. Stouffville puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Spirit forced the Voyageurs goalie Penta to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Kingston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Stouffville's Aaron Taylor stopped 30 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Spirit incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Stouffville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Christopher Brill-Morgan was ejected from the game.
