Aurora rips Cobourg, 8-2

The Aurora Tigers were firing on all cylinders against the Cobourg Cougars, and when the final buzzer sounded Tigers emerged with an 8-2 win.

Daniel Mantenuto was all over the ice for Aurora, as he registered two goals in the win. Mantenuto scored at 7:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora and again while on the power play 16:16 into the first to make the score 2-0 Aurora.

The Tigers forced Cougars' goalies to work in net, ripping 32 shots and forcing 24 saves. Stefano Durante made 10 stops and Austin Washkurak made 14. Aurora put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cobourg to score on any of its five power plays. The Tigers bested their season scoring average. Aurora has scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Aurora additionally got points from Drake Board, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Johnny Curran, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Keaton Ratcliffe, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Liam Neuman also scored for Aurora. More assists for Aurora came via Jordan DaSilva, who had two and Callum Fryer, Noah Delmas, Shane Beaulieu, Michael Laidley, and Sam Quaranta, who each chipped in one.

Others who scored for Cobourg included Riley Stillman and Connor Hogg, who each put in one. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Rylee McKinnon, Mitchell Gibson, Joe Seney, and Taylor Gauld, who contributed one each.

Andy Munroe recorded 28 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Cougars incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
