Aurora rips Newmarket, 6-1

The Aurora Tigers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes.

Aurora was led by goalie Andy Munroe, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Munroe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.31 entering the contest.

The Tigers were paced by Nicholas Erb, who finished with one goal. Erb scored 11:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. Daniel Mantenuto picked up the assist.

Aurora's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Newmarket power plays. Newmarket was unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Aurora additionally got points from Drake Board, who also registered one goal and one assist, John Curran, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Shane Beaulieu, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Aurora also had goals scored by Eric Williams and Cameron Morrison, who each put in one. In addition, Aurora received assists from Noah Delmas and Sam Quaranta, who each chipped in one.

The Hurricanes were held below their usual level of production. Newmarket puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Hurricanes' Tyler Richardson stopped 34 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Newmarket incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
