Kingston downs Whitby in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Kingston Voyageurs pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Whitby Fury on a clutch goal by Alex Tonge.

Kingston came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Voyageurs trailed 2-0 after a goal by Whitby's Davis Kuksis at 7:41 in the first period. Kingston knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Joey Rutkowski at 11:14 in the third period.

The Voyageurs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 28 penalty minutes.

Kingston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Fury to score on any of their six power plays. The Voyageurs kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Feaver made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Kingston also got points from Joey Beaudoin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Kingston came via Blake ONeill, Adam Moodie, Michael Crocock, Adam Brady, and Alex Stothart, who contributed one each.

The Fury's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kingston power plays. Whitby could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Fury average 4.2 goals per game. Kingston was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Mitch Emerson also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Ryan Kirkup, Matt Fischer, Stefan von Engelbrechten, and Jeremy Wu, who each chipped in one.

The Voyageurs' Matt Penta stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Whitby incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
