Trenton beats Oakville 3-0 as Kapelmaster gains shutout

The Trenton Golden Hawks used a sparkling performance by Justin Kapelmaster to take down the Oakville Blades, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Trenton's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Golden Hawks were paced by Liam Morgan, who had one goal. Morgan scored 4:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Kevin Lavoie provided the assist.

Trenton forced Oakville's goalies to work without much rest, launching 33 shots and forcing 30 saves. Daniel Mannella made 18 stops and Brendan McGlynn made 12. The Golden Hawks stifled the Blades' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Trenton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Golden Hawks put an average of 5.2 pucks into the net per game. Trenton's defensive play was more effective than usual against Oakville. The Golden Hawks gives up 2.4 goals on average per game.

Trenton also got a goal from Brady Wiffen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Loren Ulett, who had one and Danny Liscio and Zach de Concilys, who each chipped in two.

The Blades were held below their usual level of production. Oakville averages 3.9 goals per game. Trenton was unable to stop the Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Oakville eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Justin Kapelmaster made 31 saves for the Golden Hawks on 31 shots. Trenton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Oakville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Vince Palermo was ejected from the game.
