Stouffville survives Trenton comeback, wins 5-4

The Trenton Golden Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Stouffville Spirit held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Nick Thomakos put Stouffville up 5-3 in the third period, but Trenton pulled to within one on Danny Liscio's tally 12:36 into the third period.

Christopher Brill-Morgan had a great game for the Spirit, netting two goals. Brill-Morgan scored on the power play at 6:58 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 10:10 into the third to make the score 4-3 Stouffville.

Stouffville stifled the Golden Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Spirit's offense rang up 34 shots on Trenton's net.

Stouffville additionally got points from Alex Gilmour, who also had one goal and one assist and Joseph Deveny, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were Tyson Bruce, who had two and Matthew Heffernan, who had four.

The Golden Hawks kept Stouffville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Conor McCollum made 38 saves on 42 shots. Trenton was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 22 penalty minutes.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Michael Siddall, who grabbed one goal. Siddall scored 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Matt Pizzo picked up the assist. Trenton also got points from Kevin Lavoie, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Liam Morgan also scored for Trenton. More assists for Trenton came via Andrew Pizzo, Chrisitian Lloyd, Luke Hincenbergs, Zach de Concilys, Hunter Fargey, and Brady Wiffen, who each chipped in one.

The Spirit incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Justin Kapelmaster recorded 29 saves for Trenton. The Golden Hawks registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For Trenton, Braden Hellems was ejected from the game.
