Wiseman lifts Orangeville over Stouffville, 5-2

Ethan Wiseman had two goals to lead the Orangeville Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the Stouffville Spirit.

Wiseman found the back of the net 2:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orangeville and again while short handed 10:24 into the first to make the score 3-1 Orangeville.

Orangeville's penalty kill excelled, as the Flyers gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Orangeville forced Stouffville's goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Aaron Taylor made 12 stops and Conor McCollum made 15. The Flyers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Orangeville additionally got points from Lucas Smilsky, who also had one goal and one assist. Orangeville also had goals scored by Daniel DeRose and James McLaughlin, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Orangeville were Ian Nichols, who had three and Connor Stack, Kosta Likourezos, Travis Brown, Darren Nesbitt, and Shawn Topatigh, who contributed one each.

The Spirit's offense rang up 42 shots on Orangeville's net. Stouffville's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Spirit finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Stouffville was helped by Nick Thomakos, who finished with one goal. Thomakos scored short handed 19:55 into the first period to make the score 4-2 Orangeville. James Mense-Dietrich assisted on the tally. Stouffville also got a goal from Tyson Bruce as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Matthew Heffernan and Brodie Tutton, who each chipped in one.

Wyatt Pickrell rejected 40 shots on goal for the Flyers. Orangeville registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
