Mississauga shrugs off penalties, upends Hamilton, 5-2

The Mississauga Chargers' penalty kill was superb, as Mississauga survived multiple penalties to beat the Hamilton Red Wings, 5-2.

The Chargers were paced by Austin Broadhurst, who finished with one goal. Broadhurst scored short handed 9:00 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Mississauga. Mississauga played down a man on Tyler Cooper's cross checking. Zach Sternbach provided the assist.

Mississauga also got points from Stefano Alonzi, who also had one goal and one assist and Joseph Molinaro, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Mississauga included Domenic Commisso and Vince Figliomeni, who scored one goal each. More assists for Mississauga came via Aaron Dutra, Jordan Addesi, Thomas Lattavo, and Michael Eade, who contributed one each.

Hamilton's offense rang up 37 shots on the Chargers' net.

The Red Wings were helped by Josh LaFrance, who tallied one goal. LaFrance scored on the power play 12:31 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Mississauga. Hamilton had gained a power play chance when Figliomeni was whistled for head contact. Alexander Carlson picked up the assist. Rylee St. Onge also scored for Hamilton. In addition, Hamilton received assists from Jason OConnor and Joel Knight, who each chipped in one.

Alex Lepore made 35 saves for Mississauga on 37 shots. The Chargers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Alexander Bishop recorded 24 saves for the Red Wings. Hamilton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
