Cobourg downs Whitby in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Cobourg Cougars' Connor Armour scored 3:05 into overtime to beat the Whitby Fury, 4-3 (OT).

Armour had two goals and one assist to lead Cobourg. Armour scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:47 into the third period to make the score 3-3. A hooking penalty on Henry Thompson had put the Cougars on the power play. Taylor Gauld picked up the assist. Armour's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Cobourg with 16:55 left in overtime.

Cobourg kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Austin Cain made 33 saves on 37 shots.

Cobourg also had goals scored by Ryan Taylor and Austin Veleke, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Josh Hopkin, Mitchell Gibson, and Connor Hogg, who contributed one each.

The Fury forced the Cougars goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Whitby was helped by Adam Clements, who racked up one goal. Clements scored on the power play 16:25 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Fury had gotten the advantage when Cobourg's Veleke was sent off for slashing. Jeremy Wu provided the assist. Mitchell Burghardt also scored for Whitby. More assists for Whitby came via Patrick McAuliffe and Daniel Barnes, who each chipped in one.

Austin Washkurak made 28 saves for the Cougars on 31 shots. Cobourg incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Cougars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Liam Grande was ejected from the game. Whitby incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
