BC Junior Canucks wins tough contest against Winnipeg Junior Jets, 3-2Ice Palace at the W.E.M. Tue, Jul 01, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between BC Junior Canucks and Winnipeg Junior Jets was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end BC Junior Canucks emerged with a 3-2 win. BC Junior Canucks gained the winning advantage on a goal by RJ De Paiva 13:23 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Marcus Dashevsky had a great game for BC Junior Canucks, netting two goals. Dashevsky scored at 6:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 58 seconds into the third to make the score 2-2. Other players who recorded assists for BC Junior Canucks were Jerome Maharaj, Jonathan Corbett, Daimon Gardner, David Hejduk, and Lucas Sorace, who contributed one each. Winnipeg Junior Jets was helped by Jackson Sirrell, who registered one goal. Sirrell scored 1:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Winnipeg Junior Jets. JJ Wiebusch also scored for Winnipeg Junior Jets. In addition, Winnipeg Junior Jets received assists from Finn Loftus and Caden Zaplitny, who each chipped in one. Merik Erickson made 18 saves for BC Junior Canucks on 20 shots. BC Junior Canucks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. BC Junior Canucks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Max Graham was ejected from the game. Winnipeg Junior Jets took out Ethan Buenaventura after he had made 15 saves and installed Lachlan MacLean in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. Winnipeg Junior Jets avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of two power plays.
