St. Andrews College survives penalties, beats Nichols School, 5-0

The Nichols School Vikings failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the St. Andrews College Saints shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-0.

St. Andrews College was led by Kyle Hunter, who finished with one goal. Hunter scored 7:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Andrews College.

The Saints excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. St. Andrews College could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for St. Andrews College included Jacob Miller, who had two and JD Falconer and Quentin Campbell, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from Calvin Walker, Justin Fregona, Otto Saarimaa, Griffin James, Adam Sinclair, Austin Cho, and Alex MacDonald, who each chipped in one.

Nichols School's offense operated below its season average. The Vikings put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Nichols School's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Vikings are averaging 2.5 goals against for the season. Nichols School could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Matthew Galajda recorded 22 saves for the Saints. St. Andrews College registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Jerry Baerwitz made 24 saves for the Vikings on 29 shots.
