Clarenville falls to Dundas in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Dundas Real McCoys' Randy Rowe scored 13:42 into overtime to beat the Clarenville Caribous, 3-2 (OT).

Dundas forced Clarenville goalie Jason Churchill to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

The Real McCoys were led by Darryl Smith, who tallied two goals. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 16:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dundas. Scott Mifsud assisted on the tally. Smith's next tally made the score 2-1 Dundas with 2:53 left in the second period. Cam Watson picked up the assist. In addition, Dundas received assists from Justin Davis, who had one.

The Caribous' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Dundas power plays. Clarenville's offense operated below its season average. The Caribous put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Clarenville's offense rang up 53 shots on Dundas' net.

The Caribous were led by Cam Fergus, who racked up two goals. Fergus scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Clarenville earned a power play opportunity when Matthew Smith was put in the box for high sticking. Andrew Sweetland assisted on the tally. Fergus' next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 8:45 left in the third period. The Caribous had gotten the advantage when the Real McCoys' Smith was sent off for cross checking. Brandon Roach picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Clarenville were Dale Sullivan, who had one.

Mike Mole made 51 saves for Dundas on 53 shots. The Real McCoys incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Churchill recorded 38 saves for Clarenville. The Caribous incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Clarenville, Sweetland was ejected from the game.
