Patterson leads Denver to shutout victory over Arizona

Kent Patterson recorded a shutout against the Arizona Sundogs as the Denver Cutthroats picked up a 7-0 win.

The win by Denver clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Cutthroats got the win behind a great game by Garett Bembridge, who had one goal and two assists. Bembridge scored 10:53 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Denver. AJ Gale picked up the assist.

Denver stifled Arizona's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cutthroats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Gale, Vincent Arseneau and Jean-Philipp Chabot took 17 of the team's 30 shots.

Denver additionally got points from Arseneau, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Gale, who also grabbed three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Denver included Robin Soudek and Daniel Barczuk, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Troy Schwab, who had two and Lee Moffie, Steve Kaunisto, Phil Tesoriero, TJ Fox, Aaron MacKenzie, and Cam Reid, who contributed one each.

The Sundogs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Denver to score on any of its five power plays. Arizona kept the Cutthroats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Patterson made 46 saves on 46 shots.

The Sundogs were led by Alex Tuckerman, who took six shots.

Denver incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Adam Brown recorded 23 saves for Arizona. The Sundogs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
