Early goals doom Team OMHA Black, falls to Team HEO, 8-1

Team HEO opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to an 8-1 win over Team OMHA Black.

Team HEO pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Team HEO was led by Zachary Poirier, who finished with one goal. Poirier scored 8:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Team HEO. Taylor Egan assisted on the tally.

Team HEO forced Team OMHA Black's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 38 shots and forcing 30 saves. Jake Lawr made 16 stops and Joseph Murdaca made 14. Team HEO's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Team OMHA Black power plays. Team HEO's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, Team HEO averages 5.6 goals per contest.

Team HEO additionally got points from William Bitten, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Team HEO included Alex Way, who had two and Sam Meisenheimer, Arik Breton, and Cole Carter, who scored one goal each. More assists for Team HEO came via William Brown, Jacob Cuffley, and Ugo Roik, who each chipped in one and Jacob Ramalho and Tye Felhaber, who contributed two each.

Team OMHA Black stifled Team HEO's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Team OMHA Black could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Team OMHA Black also got a goal from Kyle Langdon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Team OMHA Black were Eddie Schultz and Colin Tonge, who each chipped in one.

Team HEO's starting goalie, Peter Brooks, made 14 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Jack Ondrovic, who stopped 13 shots. Team HEO registered zero goals on six power play opportunities.
