Team OMHA White penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of Team GTHL Red

Team OMHA White's penalty kill was superb, as Team OMHA White survived multiple penalties to beat Team GTHL Red, 4-1.

Team OMHA White was paced by Connor Bunnaman, who finished with one goal and one assist. Bunnaman scored 2:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Team OMHA White. Jake ODonnell provided the assist.

In the losing effort, Team GTHL Red was led by Givani Smith, who registered two goals. Smith scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:31 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A hit to the head penalty on ODonnell had put Team GTHL Red on the power play. Smith's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Team OMHA White with 8:07 left in the second period.

Team GTHL Red was unable to stop Team OMHA White from sending pucks towards the net, and Team OMHA White eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Team OMHA White could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. Team OMHA White was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 10 chances.

Team OMHA White also got points from Jonathan Ang, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Team OMHA White also had goals scored by Giordano Finoro and Chase St. Aubin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Team OMHA White received assists from Jake Payette and Rylee St. Onge, who each chipped in one.

Team GTHL Red's offense operated below its season average. Team GTHL Red averages 5.2 goals per game. Team GTHL Red's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Team GTHL Red finished with 20 penalty minutes.

Team OMHA White's Olivier Lafreniere stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Jack Lafontaine made 36 saves for Team GTHL Red on 40 shots. Team GTHL Red registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
