Smiths Falls falls to Carleton Place in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Vinny Post gave the Carleton Place Canadians a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Smiths Falls Bears when he scored 6:50 into the extra period.

The win by Carleton Place clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Smiths Falls was stymied by the Canadians' netminder Guillaume Therien, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Therien managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.44 prior to the game.

Carleton Place was sparked by Post, who racked up one goal.

The Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Bears were unable to stop Carleton Place from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadians eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Carleton Place also got a goal from Kelly Summers as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Tyson Stewart, who had two and Larry Smith and Andy Sturtz, who each chipped in one.

Smiths Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Carleton Place power plays.

The Bears were led by Neil Doef, who scored the team's only goal. Doef scored 8:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Alek Deblois picked up the assist.

Carleton Place incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Michael Pinios recorded 35 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
