Leamington outlasts St. Catharines, 4-2

The game between the Leamington Flyers and the St. Catharines Falcons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Leamington emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Cale Allen's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The win moved the Flyers to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Mitchell Amante had two goals to lead Leamington to victory. Amante scored at 16:53 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 4:00 into the third to make the score 4-2 Leamington.

The Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Leamington gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

The Flyers forced Falcons' goalies to work without much rest, launching 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Knick Dawe made 14 stops and Jonathon D Ilario made 17.

Chris Scott also scored for Leamington. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Ryan Muzzin, David Dalby, Alex Friesen, Nathan Opblinger, and Dylan Seguin, who each chipped in one.

St. Catharines stifled Leamington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Falcons were led by Dillan Walker, who had one goal and one assist. Walker scored 5:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Brennan Feasey picked up the assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Tommy Barszcz as well. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Ryan Stayner and Yanni Rallis, who contributed one each.

Austyn Roudebush recorded 26 saves for the Flyers. Leamington incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors. St. Catharines incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Falcons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Stayner was ejected from the game.
