Behind a great game by Ryan Taylor, who had two goals and one assist, the Waterloo Siskins defeated the Caledonia Corvairs, 3-1. Taylor scored at 1:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo and again while 19:36 into the third to make the score 3-1 Waterloo.After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, Caledonia faces elimination next time out. Waterloo's Leo Lazarev was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Lazarev will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.01. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:27 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Siskins stifled the Corvairs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Waterloo's offense rang up 33 shots on Caledonia's net. Waterloo also got a goal from Troy Lajeunesse as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Christian Mroczkowski, who had two and Evan Kearns, Evan Buehler, and Andrew Brubacher, who each chipped in one. The Corvairs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Caledonia was led by Spencer Gourlay, who scored the team's only goal. Gourlay scored 3:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Cody Brown provided the assist. The Siskins ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Waterloo, Luke Gazzola was ejected from the game. The Corvairs' Colin Furlong stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Caledonia totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Scott Dorian was ejected from the game.
