Waterloo falls to Caledonia in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Caledonia Corvairs pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Waterloo Siskins on a clutch goal by Jordan Peacock.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Waterloo faces elimination next time out.

Peacock had two goals to lead Caledonia to victory. Peacock's tallies came on the power play at 7:58 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia and 14 seconds into the fourth to make the score 5-4 Caledonia.

The Corvairs forced the Siskins goalie Leo Lazarev to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Caledonia also got points from Kyler Nixon, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Caledonia included Spencer Gourlay and Cosimo Fontana, who each put in one. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Connor Murphy, who had two and Cody Brown, Brier Jonathan, and Mitch Brown, who each chipped in one.

Waterloo was helped by Danny Hanlon, who finished with two goals. Hanlon scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:39 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Siskins earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Blunt was put in the box for high sticking. Ryan Taylor provided the assist. Hanlon's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 10:18 left in the third period. Waterloo had gotten the advantage when Caledonia's Jayme Forslund was sent off for roughing after whistle. Christian Mroczkowski picked up the assist. Waterloo additionally got points from Evan Buehler, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Waterloo also got a goal from Troy Lajeunesse as well. More assists for Waterloo came via Jarrett Parker and Andrew Brubacher, who contributed one each.

Colin Furlong made 22 saves for the Corvairs on 26 shots. Caledonia incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Lazarev recorded 42 saves for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
