Caledonia beats Waterloo 4-0 as Furlong gains shutout

The Caledonia Corvairs used a sparkling performance by Colin Furlong to take down the Waterloo Siskins, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Caledonia's 4-0 shutout victory.

The win gave the Corvairs a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Caledonia was led by Spencer Gourlay, who had one goal. Gourlay scored 7:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Ryan Moran picked up the assist.

The Corvairs forced Waterloo goalie Leo Lazarev to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Caledonia also had goals scored by Cody Brown, Cosimo Fontana, and Jeffrey Malott, who each put in one. More assists for Caledonia came via Mitch Green (AP), who had two and Jayme Forslund, Ryan Blunt, and Todd Ratchford, who contributed one each.

Caledonia was unable to stop the Siskins from sending pucks towards the net, and Waterloo eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Corvairs' Furlong stopped 34 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Caledonia incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Leo Lazarev made 31 saves for the Siskins on 33 shots. Waterloo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
