Brett Lutes was all over the ice for the Pensacola Ice Flyers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Pensacola's 9-1 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths. Lutes' tallies came at 1:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola and on the power play 1:56 into the third to make the score 7-1 Pensacola.After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Columbus faces elimination next time out. The Ice Flyers were led by goalie Ross MacKinnon, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. MacKinnon certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.46 entering the contest. Pensacola forced Cottonmouths' goalies to work all game long, ripping 33 shots and forcing 24 saves. Andrew Loewen made 15 stops and Shannon Szabados made nine. The Ice Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Pensacola also got points from Mitchell Good, who also had one goal and one assist, Joe Caveney, who also registered two goals and one assist, Ryan Salvis, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Adam Pawlick, who also had one goal and one assist, and Corey Banfield, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Pensacola were Tyler Amburgey, Drew Baker, Keegan Flaherty, and Steve Bergin, who contributed one each and John Dunbar and Jeremy Gates, who each chipped in two. The Cottonmouths were led by Will Aide, who scored the team's only goal. Aide scored 1:56 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pensacola. Alex Gallant provided the assist. Pensacola incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Columbus incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
