Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Team GTHL Red defeated Team OMHA Black in a shootout 4-3 (3-0 SO). The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams. In addition to the clincher, Team GTHL Red got shootout goals from Adam Timleck and Domenico Commisso.Team GTHL Red came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Team GTHL Red was down 2-0 after a goal by Team OMHA Black's Cameron Searles at 6:17 in the first period. Team GTHL Red knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Searles at 19:12 in the third period. Team GTHL Red pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes. Team GTHL Red was held below its usual level of production. Team GTHL Red puts an average of 8.5 pucks into the net per game. Team GTHL Red forced Team OMHA Black goalie Jake Lawr to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Team GTHL Red was helped by Travis Barron, who racked up two goals. Barron scored the first of his two goals at 10:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Team OMHA Black. Adam Mascherin provided the assist. Barron's next tally made the score 3-2 Team GTHL Red with 1:18 left in the second period. A head contact call on Brandon Bastasin put Team GTHL Red on the penalty kill. Team GTHL Red also got points from Mascherin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Team GTHL Red came via Victor Mete, who had one and Drake Rymsha, who had two. Team OMHA Black kept Team GTHL Red's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jack Lafontaine made 39 saves on 42 shots. Team OMHA Black had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. Eddie Schultz also scored for Team OMHA Black. In addition, Team OMHA Black received assists from Matthew Timms, David Pearce, Nicholas Prestia, and Brandon Saigeon, who each chipped in one. Team GTHL Red registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Jake Lawr made 35 saves for Team OMHA Black on 38 shots. Team OMHA Black incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
