Toronto Lakeshore hangs on, beats Aurora 3-1

The Toronto Lakeshore Patriots beat the Aurora Tigers, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Toronto Lakeshore took over the lead for good with a goal by Nathan Feric at 1:37 in the first period. Doug Bonar provided the assist.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Aurora faces elimination next time out.

The Patriots were led by goalie Evan Buitenhuis, who finished with 37 saves while allowing one goal. Buitenhuis managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.17 prior to the game.

Toronto Lakeshore was paced by Nicholas Ursitti, who racked up one goal. Ursitti scored 7:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Niko Kovachis assisted on the tally.

The Patriots kept the Tigers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Entmaa made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Andreas Tsogkas also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Lakeshore were Kevin Shier and Rory Bell, who each chipped in one.

Aurora's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Toronto Lakeshore power plays. The Tigers forced Toronto Lakeshore goalie Buitenhuis to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Aurora was led by Eric Williams, who scored the team's only goal. Williams scored on the power play 11:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Toronto Lakeshore. The Tigers had gotten the advantage when the Patriots' Jacob Hayhurst was sent off for tripping. Dylan Sikura picked up the assist.

Toronto Lakeshore incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Aurora incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
