OAKVILLE boosted by Paniccia's play in net, beats CAMBRIDGE 5-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Daniela Paniccia helped OAKVILLE defeat CAMBRIDGE, 5-1.

OAKVILLE was led by Lauren Patterson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Patterson scored 1:09 into the second period to make the score 2-0 OAKVILLE. Lauren Carroll (A) provided the assist.

OAKVILLE surpassed its usual scoring output this season. OAKVILLE has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. OAKVILLE found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing three power plays.

OAKVILLE also got points from Jennifer MacAskill (C), who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Cassidy MacPherson, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Christina Putigna also scored for OAKVILLE. Other players who recorded assists for OAKVILLE were Jordan Martin, Lauren Webb, Jazz Kennedy, Alessia Marchese, and Kirsten Miller, who each chipped in one.

OAKVILLE was unable to stop CAMBRIDGE from sending pucks towards the net, and CAMBRIDGE eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. CAMBRIDGE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

CAMBRIDGE was led by Julia Schnurr, who scored the team's only goal. Schnurr scored 12:16 into the third period to make the score 3-1 OAKVILLE. Rebecca Haddaway picked up the assist.

Daniela Paniccia made 35 saves for OAKVILLE on 36 shots. OAKVILLE registered one goal on three power play opportunities. CAMBRIDGE's starting goalie, Lauren Webber, made 13 saves and finished with the loss before she was taken out in favor of Julia Vandyk, who stopped nine shots.
