Huntsville squeaks by Mississippi RiverKings, 4-2

The game between the Huntsville Havoc and Mississippi RiverKings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Huntsville emerged with a 4-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Stuart Stefan secured the win for the Havoc with a goal in the third period.

Huntsville evened the best of three series at 1-1 and forced a deciding game three.

The Havoc were led by Stefan, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Stefan scored 13:45 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Huntsville. Josh Harris provided the assist.

Huntsville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Havoc forced Mississippi RiverKings goalie Dan McWhinney to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Huntsville additionally got points from Nick Lazorko, who also registered one goal and one assist. Huntsville also had goals scored by Rob Florentino and Dominic Osman, who each put in one. More assists for Huntsville came via Justin Alonzo, Mike Gurtler, and Eric Alexander, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville was unable to stop Mississippi RiverKings from sending pucks towards the net, and Mississippi RiverKings eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Leo Thomas, who racked up one goal and one assist. Thomas scored 7:20 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Matt Whitehead picked up the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Todd Hosmer, who also tallied one goal and one assist.

Jesse Kallechy rejected 29 shots on goal for the Havoc. Huntsville totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Mississippi RiverKings' McWhinney stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
