Pinios leads Smiths Falls to shutout victory over Ottawa

Michael Pinios recorded a shutout against the Ottawa Senators as the Smiths Falls Bears picked up a 4-0 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Ottawa faces elimination next time out.

Smiths Falls was led by Derian Plouffe, who registered one goal and one assist. Plouffe scored 6:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Ryan Duhaime assisted on the tally.

The Bears stifled the Senators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Smiths Falls' offense rang up 38 shots on Ottawa's net.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Chris MacMillan, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Taylor Henry and Zachary Senyshyn, who each put in one. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Brett Costello, Neil Doef, and Stefano Momesso, who contributed one each.

Michael Pinios made 30 saves for the Bears on 30 shots. Smiths Falls incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Senators' Alexandre Savard-Belanger stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Ottawa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
