Toronto Lakeshore takes care of Fort Frances early, wins 6-0

A four-goal first period deficit cost Fort Frances, which could not recover and fell to Toronto Lakeshore, 6-0.

Toronto Lakeshore was boosted by Evan Buitenhuis, who turned in a shutout with 26 saves. Buitenhuis managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.01 prior to the game.

Niko Kovachis was all over the ice for Toronto Lakeshore, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Kovachis scored the first of his two goals at 3:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Kevin Shier picked up the assist. Kovachis' next tally made the score 4-0 Toronto Lakeshore with 1:59 left in the first period. Shier provided the assist.

Toronto Lakeshore put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Fort Frances to score on any of its four power plays. Toronto Lakeshore got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Toronto Lakeshore also got points from Nathan Feric, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Robert Powers, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Shier, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Tyler Currie also scored for Toronto Lakeshore. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Matthew Marchese, Jacob Hayhurst, Brandon Willett, and Doug Bonar, who each chipped in one.

Toronto Lakeshore incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Fort Frances' starting goalie, Jordan Cartney, made five saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Devin Tappenden, who stopped 19 shots. Fort Frances incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
