Flint downs Cleveland, 5-1

Josh Koepplinger racked up two points to lead the Flint Junior Generals to a 5-1 victory over the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Cleveland faces elimination next time out.

Flint put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Lumberjacks to score on any of their three power plays. Cleveland was unable to stop the Junior Generals from sending pucks towards the net, and Flint eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

Flint also got points from Conor Durgan, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Flint included Mark McGee, Brett Leppek, and Luke Dmytro, who each put in one. More assists for Flint came via Justin Fisher, who had two and Zach Koonce, Nick Gnagni, Caleb Gannelli, and Jacob Lainesse, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Flint power plays.

Cleveland was led by Tyler Dalton, who scored the team's only goal. Dalton scored 8:02 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Flint. Mike Palasics provided the assist.

Anders Franke rejected 20 shots on goal for the Junior Generals. Flint incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Jr. Lumberjacks' Joseph Moza stopped 41 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Cleveland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
