Almonte Thunder wins tough contest against Ottawa West Golden Knights, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Almonte Thunder escaped with a 4-2 victory over Ottawa West Golden Knights.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Andrew Rowbotham at 18:45 of the second period.

Rowbotham was all over the ice for Almonte Thunder, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Rowbotham scored the first of his two goals at 19:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Almonte Thunder. Luke Martin picked up the assist. Rowbotham's next tally made the score 3-2 Almonte Thunder with 1:15 left in the second period. Almonte Thunder had taken the advantage when Ottawa West Golden Knights' Phil Edgar got sent off for head contact. Brandon Mendham provided the assist.

Almonte Thunder also got points from Mendham, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jordan Bosely also scored for Almonte Thunder. In addition, Almonte Thunder received assists from Tyler McKechnie, who had one.

Ottawa West Golden Knights was helped by Jeff Gottzmann, who had one goal and one assist. Gottzmann scored 8:53 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Justin Lafleur picked up the assist. Ottawa West Golden Knights additionally got points from Zac Rodier, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Ottawa West Golden Knights came via Dave Kilrea, who had one.
