Huge game by Boudreau boosts Ottawa over Cornwall, 5-2

Behind a great game by Deric Boudreau, who had one goal and two assists, the Ottawa Senators defeated the Cornwall Colts, 5-2.

Boudreau beat James Edwardson with a shot 7:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Ryan Collins picked up the assist. Boudreau dished an assist on Zac Tierney's goal that made the score 3-0 Ottawa at 7:19 into the second period. He added another helper on Joey Champigny's goal that made the score 4-1 Ottawa at 11:42 into the second period.

The win by Ottawa broke a deadlock and gave the Senators a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Ottawa's offense rang up 32 shots on Cornwall's net.

Ottawa also got points from Tierney, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chad Millett also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Shawn Lynch, Robert Michel, Geoffrey Lawson, and Matthew Dupont, who each chipped in one.

The Colts were helped by Kevin Hope, who had one goal and one assist. Hope scored on the power play 13:21 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Ottawa. A cross checking penalty on Lawson had put Cornwall on the power play. Marly Quince assisted on the tally. Cornwall additionally got points from Quince, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Cornwall came via Cal Hofford and Chase Pearson, who contributed one each.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger rejected 24 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with 15 minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Senators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eric Clitsome was ejected from the game. Edwardson recorded 27 saves for the Colts. Cornwall totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For the Colts, Quince was ejected from the game.
