Georgetown rips Buffalo, 5-1

The Georgetown Raiders were firing on all cylinders against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, and when the final buzzer sounded Raiders emerged with a 5-1 win.

The win by Georgetown clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

The Raiders got the win behind a great game by Steve Hladin, who had two goals and one assist. Hladin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:34 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. Georgetown had gotten the advantage when Buffalo's Max Mikowski was sent off for boarding. Liam Clare provided the assist. Hladin's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Georgetown with 2:08 left in the third period.

Others who scored for Georgetown included Scott Emerson, Anthony Marra, and Brendan Jacome, who scored one goal each. More assists for Georgetown came via Tyler MacPherson, Ryan Smith, and Adam Mascherin, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Pat Egan, who scored the team's only goal. Egan scored on the power play 13:27 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Georgetown. Buffalo had gained a power play chance when Gavin Shantz was whistled for holding. Nolan Sheeran picked up the assist.

Michael McNiven recorded 24 saves for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jr. Sabres' Joseph Pianta stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Buffalo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
