Tonge nets hat trick, leads Kingston to 4-1 win over TrentonINVISTA Center Thu, Mar 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Alex Tonge was the highlight in Voyageurs' 4-1 win against the Trenton Golden Hawks. Tonge got on the scoresheet 6:26 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:57 into the second and at 6:38 into the third.After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Trenton faces elimination next time out. The Kingston Voyageurs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Trenton power plays. Kingston also got a goal from Josh Hicks as well. More assists for Kingston came via Michael Crocock, who had two and Adam Moodie, Brandon OQuinn, Cole Bolton, Brody Heleno, and Spencer Green, who contributed one each. The Golden Hawks stifled Kingston's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Trenton was led by Tyler Donaldson, who scored the team's only goal. Donaldson scored 7:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Fabrizio Ricci provided the assist. Sam Tanguay made 23 saves for the Voyageurs on 24 shots. Kingston incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Golden Hawks' Denny Dubblestyne stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Trenton incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
