Buitenhuis leads Toronto Lakeshore to shutout victory over North York

Evan Buitenhuis recorded a shutout against the North York Rangers as the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots picked up a 3-0 win.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, North York faces elimination next time out.

Toronto Lakeshore was led by Doug Bonar, who finished with one goal. Bonar scored 4:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Kevin Shier assisted on the tally.

The Patriots kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Gianluca Baggetta made 36 saves on 39 shots. Toronto Lakeshore got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its 10 chances.

Others who scored for Toronto Lakeshore included Luke Carter and Rory Bell, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto Lakeshore received assists from Jacob Hayhurst, Nathan Feric, and Nicholas Ursitti, who contributed one each.

North York stifled the Patriots' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Buitenhuis recorded 25 saves for Toronto Lakeshore. The Patriots incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Rangers incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and had no power play opportunities.
