Toronto Lakeshore blows out North York, 5-1

The North York Rangers had trouble finding ways to stop the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, which beat Rangers, 5-1.

The win gave Toronto Lakeshore a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Patriots' Evan Buitenhuis was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Buitenhuis certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.98 entering the contest.

Toronto Lakeshore forced North York's netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 44 shots and forcing 39 saves. Jason Pucciarelli made four stops and Gianluca Baggetta made 35. The Patriots stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Toronto Lakeshore was led by Jacob Hayhurst, who registered two goals. Hayhurst scored the first of his two goals at 7:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Lakeshore. Niko Kovachis picked up the assist. Hayhurst's next tally made the score 3-0 Toronto Lakeshore with 11:11 left in the first period. Marcus Rose provided the assist. Toronto Lakeshore also had goals scored by Tyler Currie, Nathan Feric, and Doug Bonar, who each put in one. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Michael Prapavessis, who had two and Andreas Tsogkas, Brandon Willett, Luke Carter, Kevin Shier, Rory Bell, and Quinn Syrydiuk, who each chipped in one.

North York's offense rang up 32 shots on the Patriots' net.

Toronto Lakeshore incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
