Lakeville North falls apart in second, loses to Edina, 8-2

The Edina Hornets scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the Lakeville North Panthers and clinch an 8-2 win.

Miguel Fidler was all over the ice for Edina, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Fidler scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:16 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Edina. The Hornets had gained a power play chance when Jack Sadek was whistled for tripping. Dylan Malmquist provided the assist. Fidler's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Edina with 14:24 left in the second period. Edina had gotten the advantage when Lakeville North's Roman Rohrbach was sent off for interference. Malmquist assisted on the tally.

Edina also got points from Kiefer Bellows, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Cullen Munson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Edina also had goals scored by Ben Foley, Parker Mismash, and Casey Dornbach, who each put in one. In addition, Edina received assists from Alec Oeserrich, who had two, Tyler Nanne, who had four, and Calvin Pugh and Garret Wait, who contributed one a piece.

The Hornets' defense shut down the Panthers' forwards for much of the game, and Lakeville North got off only 14 shots during the contest. The Panthers found themselves short handed often, totaling 22 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Lakeville North was led by Max Johnson, who had two goals. Johnson scored the first of his two goals at 9:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tristan Hazlett provided the assist. Johnson's next tally made the score 3-2 Edina with 5:24 left in the first period. The Panthers earned a power play opportunity when Oeserrich was put in the box for slashing. Connor Hyden assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeville North were Angelo Altavilla and Henry Enebak, who each chipped in one.

Edina's Andrew Rohkohl stopped 12 shots out of the 14 that he faced. The Hornets ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Lakeville North's starting goalie, Blake Oettinger, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Will Dupont, who stopped four shots. The Panthers registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
