Loven leads East Grand Forks over Hermantown, 7-3

The East Grand Forks Green Wave's Grant Loven had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 7-3 win over the Hermantown Hawks.

Loven got on the board by slotting home a goal 14:26 into the second period to make the score 4-1 East Grand Forks. Dixon Bowen picked up the assist. Loven dished an assist on Bowen's goal that made the score 1-1 at 2:36 into the second period. He then added assists on Jace Pesch's goal at 6:51 into the second and on Reed Corbid's goal at 16:29 into the second.

East Grand Forks pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

By firing 29 shots on goal, the Green Wave exceeded the 5.0 shots they average per game this year.

East Grand Forks additionally got points from Bowen, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Tanner Tweten, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Corbid, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for East Grand Forks included Cale Mack and Eddie Eades, who each put in one. In addition, East Grand Forks received assists from Tye Ausmus, Taylor Brierley, and Brandon Loven, who each chipped in one.

Hermantown's offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 4.5 shots per game it averages.

The Hawks were led by Scott Wasbotten, who grabbed one goal. Wasbotten scored 16:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hermantown. Nate Pionk assisted on the tally. Hermantown also had goals scored by Jared Zeleznikar and Parker Hawk, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hermantown were Josh Lenard, Sam Gibson, and Jack LeBlanc, who contributed one a piece.

Josh Weber made 22 saves for East Grand Forks on 25 shots. The Green Wave registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Adam Smith took the loss and made 15 saves before being replaced by Jace Thomas who made seven saves. Hermantown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
