Brockville outlasts Pembroke, 5-3

The game between the Brockville Braves and the Pembroke Lumber Kings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Brockville emerged with a 5-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Sean King secured the win for the Braves with a goal in the third period.

With the win, Brockville evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Ryan Cusin had one goal and two assists to lead the Braves. Cusin scored 20 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. Andrew Peski provided the assist.

Brockville's penalty kill excelled, as the Braves gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

Brockville also got points from Jack Billings, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nathan Todd, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Hayden Hulton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Jonathan Power and Cory Wilson, who each chipped in one.

Pembroke's offense rang up 37 shots on Brockville's net.

The Lumber Kings were helped by Jordan Larson, who had one goal. Larson scored on the power play 3:18 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Pembroke had taken the advantage when the Braves' Ryan Walter got sent off for high sticking. Trent Durocher picked up the assist. Others who scored for Pembroke included Colin Kruse and Lucas Gonu, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pembroke came via Colton Keuhl, Dylan Chase, and Keegan Harper, who contributed one each.

Brockville's Andrew Pikul stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Braves incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Darren Smith made 25 saves for the Lumber Kings on 30 shots. Pembroke incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
