Victor Beaulac finished with two points to lead the Smiths Falls Bears to a 5-1 victory over the Nepean Raiders. The win gave Smiths Falls a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Bears forced Raiders' goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Brett Magnus made 22 stops and Ryan Mulder made 10. Smiths Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Nepean power plays. Smiths Falls additionally got points from Zachary Senyshyn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Derian Plouffe, Domenic Camastra, and Stefano Momesso, who scored one goal each. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Brandon McMartin, Chris MacMillan, Brandon Lesway, Taylor Henry, and Karson McCartney, who contributed one each. Cory Simic recorded 23 saves for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nepean incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
