Carleton Place beats Kemptville 3-1 after comeback scare

The Kemptville 73s tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Carleton Place Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

A goal by Stephen Baylis put Carleton Place up 3-0 in the second period, but Kemptville pulled to within two on Dean Galasso's tally 18:44 into the third period.

The win gave the Canadians a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Baylis was all over the ice for Carleton Place, as he grabbed two goals in the win.

The 73s were unable to stop the Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Carleton Place eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Canadians had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 10 chances.

Carleton Place also got a goal from Blair Barr as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Devin Campbell, who had two and Owen Stewart, Elias Ghantous, Craig Pefley, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one each.

In addition, Kemptville received assists from Matt Martin and Daniele Disipio, who each chipped in one.

Guillaume Therien made 17 saves for Carleton Place on 18 shots. The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matt Couvrette rejected 40 shots on goal for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
