Ayr falls to Paris in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Paris Mounties pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Ayr Centennials on a clutch goal by Ian Fowler.

The win by Paris broke a deadlock and gave the Mounties a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Paris pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Mounties were sparked by Fowler, who racked up one goal and one assist. Fowler scored 2:40 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Paris. Brodie Smith picked up the assist.

Paris kept Ayr's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Figueirdo made 40 saves on 43 shots.

Paris also had goals scored by Brady Wheelans and Clayton Chalmers, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Zack Skubnik, Jacob Norcott, and Matthew Small, who each chipped in one.

The Centennials forced the Mounties goalie Zach Shomphe to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots.

Ayr was helped by Brett Gibson, who finished with one goal. Gibson scored on the power play 12:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Paris. The Centennials had gained a power play chance when Daniel Pugliese was whistled for roughing. Austin Sine (AP) assisted on the tally. Rob Grant (AP) also scored for Ayr. More assists for Ayr came via Ben Poort, Connor Voigt, and Riley Clipper, who contributed one a piece.

Shomphe recorded 46 saves for Paris. The Mounties registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Ayr incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
