Lakefield rolls over Uxbridge, 5-1Lakefield-Smith CC Tue, Mar 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lakefield Chiefs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Uxbridge Bruins. The win gave Lakefield a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Nathan Larson had a great game for the Chiefs, netting two goals. Larson found the back of the net 8:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lakefield and again while on the power play 4:27 into the second to make the score 3-0 Lakefield. Lakefield pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes. The Chiefs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Uxbridge power plays. Lakefield forced Uxbridge goalie Max Tjin to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Shawn Mackie also scored for Lakefield. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Eric Oosting, who had three, Bryce Sweeting, Eric Shewell, and Ryan Saunders, who contributed one a piece, and Connor Blair and Travis Brault, who each chipped in two. The Bruins were led by Tyson Eastgate, who scored the team's only goal. Eastgate scored 5:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lakefield. Connor Beck picked up the assist. Zach Wainman rejected 15 shots on goal for the Chiefs. Lakefield registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Tjin recorded 27 saves for Uxbridge. The Bruins incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
