Amherstview rides DAndrea to victory over Picton, 3-1

The Amherstview Jets relied on the sparkling performance of James DAndrea in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Picton Pirates.

The win gave Amherstview a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Jets were sparked by Cassidy Bruni, who had one goal and one assist. Bruni scored 14:11 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. Brody Taylor picked up the assist.

Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Picton power plays.

Amherstview additionally got points from Taylor, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Jordan Howe as well. More assists for Amherstview came via Brett Yake, Andrew Fullerton, and Cody Stapley, who each chipped in one.

Picton stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Pirates' offense rang up 35 shots on Amherstview's net.

Picton was led by Kenny Murduff, who scored the team's only goal. Murduff scored 17:40 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Picton. Brian Bunnett assisted on the tally.

DAndrea recorded 34 saves for the Jets. Amherstview incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Pirates' Andrew Pearson stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Picton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
