A four-goal first period deficit cost the Stillwater Ponies, which could not recover and fell to the Edina Hornets, 6-1.

The win gave Edina a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Tyler Nanne had four goals to lead the Hornets to victory. Nanne notched his first tally 54 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 5:26 into the first, at 10:36 into the first, and at 7:19 into the third.

Edina capitalized on Stillwater's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Edina additionally got points from Dylan Malmquist, who also finished with one goal and three assists. Edina also got a goal from Casey Dornbach as well. Other players who recorded assists for Edina were Miguel Fidler, who had one and Ryan Zuhlsdorf and Kiefer Bellows, who contributed two a piece.

The Hornets' defense shut down the Ponies' forwards for much of the game, and Stillwater got off only 13 shots during the contest.

Andrew Rohkohl made 12 saves for Edina on 13 shots. The Hornets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Josh Benson rejected 21 shots on goal for the Ponies. Stillwater incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
