Sydney Sabres survives Sydney Wolf Pack comeback, wins 4-2

Sydney Wolf Pack tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Sydney Sabres held on for a 4-2 victory.

A goal by Daniel Pataky put Sydney Sabres up 4-1 in the third period, but Sydney Wolf Pack pulled to within two on Scott Clemie's tally 12:32 into the third period.

Sydney Sabres was paced by Yucca Reinecke, who tallied one goal. Reinecke scored 4:14 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Sydney Sabres. Joshua Hansen provided the assist.

Sydney Sabres stifled Sydney Wolf Pack's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of Sydney Sabres were also effective in Sydney Wolf Pack's zone, and came away with two goals. The 38 shots that Sydney Sabres put on net surpassed Sydney Sabres' average of 4.3 shots per game this season.

Sydney Sabres also got points from Pataky, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Cameron Todd also scored for Sydney Sabres. Other players who recorded assists for Sydney Sabres were Hayden Sheard, who had two and Chris Shephard and Casey Kubara, who contributed one a piece.

Sydney Wolf Pack put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sydney Sabres to score on any of its five power plays. By firing 26 shots on goal, Sydney Wolf Pack exceeded the 2.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Sydney Wolf Pack also got a goal from Lachlan Allport as well. More assists for Sydney Wolf Pack came via Charles Frazer, Alec Stephenson, and Cameron Smith, who each chipped in one.

Sydney Sabres' Rhett Kelly stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Sydney Sabres incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jake Burgess rejected 34 shots on goal for Sydney Wolf Pack. Sydney Wolf Pack incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
