NEPEAN pulls away in second, rolls over LEASIDE, 6-1Goulbourn Rec Complex B Sun, Mar 02, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
NEPEAN scored three goals in the second period to pull away from LEASIDE and clinch a 6-1 win. After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, LEASIDE faces elimination next time out. Carolyn Williams had two goals and one assist to lead NEPEAN. Williams scored the first of her two goals at 6:27 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NEPEAN. Josiane Pozzebon assisted on the tally. Williams' next tally made the score 6-1 NEPEAN with 2:29 left in the third period. Alison MacKenzie picked up the assist. NEPEAN's offense rang up 45 shots on LEASIDE's net. NEPEAN did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. NEPEAN capitalized on LEASIDE's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. NEPEAN also got points from Katryne Villeneuve, who also had one goal and two assists and Addi Halladay, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for NEPEAN included Sam Cogan and Sophie Contant, who each put in one. In addition, NEPEAN received assists from Blake Orosz and Dallis Ferguson, who each chipped in one. LEASIDE did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 13 shots on net to force 12 saves. LEASIDE was led by Sarah McGilvray (A) Home, who scored the team's only goal. McGilvray (A) Home scored 7:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 NEPEAN. Katriona McNeilly assisted on the tally. Kira Bombay took the win and made six saves before being replaced by Megan Halhed who made six saves. Karly Stratos made 39 saves for LEASIDE on 45 shots. LEASIDE incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
