Armstrong leads Wingham over Walkerton, 5-2

Aaron Armstrong had one goal and three assists to lead the Wingham Ironmen to a 5-2 victory over the Walkerton Hawks.

Armstrong got on the board by slotting home a goal 13:34 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Wingham. Justin Jacklin picked up the assist. Armstrong dished an assist on Alex Kuntz's goal that made the score 1-0 Wingham at 8:04 into the first period. He then added assists on Ryan McNeil's goal at 59 seconds into the second and on Jacklin's goal at 18:43 into the third.

With the win, Wingham evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Ironmen stifled Walkerton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wingham kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jake Ireland made 35 saves on 40 shots.

Wingham also got points from Jacklin, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jamie Huber, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Kuntz, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Wingham received assists from Ben Nelson and Travis Donaldson, who each chipped in one.

The Ironmen were unable to stop Walkerton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Walkerton was helped by Jake Barclay, who registered one goal. Barclay scored 15:57 into the second period to make the score 2-2. David Gallo assisted on the tally. Walkerton also got a goal from Shane MacDonald as well. More assists for Walkerton came via Jay Thomson, who had one.

Ben Nelson made 34 saves for Wingham on 36 shots. The Ironmen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For Walkerton, Brandon Lamothe was ejected from the game.
